Pop-up Fundraiser: Taking Action for a Local Middle School

'Tis the season for social activism! Just as college students are getting ready to depart from campus for the holidays, GRL organizes a pop-up fundraiser in the Colorado College Student Center featuring designs and prints from over 25 art students and faculty who graciously contributed their work for the project.
The pitch was simple: donate $10-30 for original student art to support a local women’s middle school basketball team play another semester. The pop-up fundraiser was held for two hours and raised over $1200 for the girls at West Middle School -- $200 over our initial goal!
All of this could not have even been conceived or implemented without the artists and activists in our own community. GRL's mission to embrace creative action means that any challenge is never too big or small if it could lead toimprovements in the coming years.We hope to continue to make progress as we collaboratively develop, rehearse, and build on collective projects so we can put the ideas into practice in the world.
